The Countdown Begins: ‘Wonder on Buxton’ Art Installations Happening This Summer & Fall

The Indianola Hometown Pride Committee is excited to announce that its "Wonder on Buxton" project - a two-block path of art, amenities and gathering spaces that tell the story of Indianola's culture and history - is preparing for installations along North Buxton Street.

The map shown references work that will take place this summer and fall throughout the area. As work is underway, sidewalks may be impacted in short intervals during inlay installations. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

  • All of the installations, which are facilitated by Group Creative Services, include:
  • Six concrete sculptures on public property in the corridor.
Special note: The "Founding Frame" sculpture is scheduled for installation the week of July 15. Be sure to include #FoundingFrame when sharing photos or videos of the sculpture on social media! Learn more about the sculpture below in the "Installation Placements" section.
  • Thirty sidewalk inlays along Buxton Street.
  • Six kinetic wind sculptures on Buxton Street lamps.
  • QR codes on the concrete sculptures, linking to stories of local history.

Indianola Hometown Pride hopes community members and visitors enjoy "Wonder on Buxton" as the project takes shape in its final stages. An official unveiling is scheduled for Saturday, July 27.

Indianola Hometown Pride will share more details about the unveiling, each sculpture and the project overall in the near future.
