ABA urges young lawyers and law students to express support for U.S. Department of Education's proposed Student Debt Relief Rule

The American Bar Association (ABA) urges young lawyers and law students to express their support for the U.S. Department of Education's proposed Student Debt Relief Rule.

On May 5, the ABA sent an Action Alert to the more than 60,000 members of the ABA Young Lawyers Division and the ABA Law Student Division urging them to help persuade the U.S. Department of Education to finalize and adopt its proposed rule that would provide substantial student debt relief to 30 million Americans. The ABA Action Alert briefly summarized the key provisions of the proposed rule and asked the new lawyers and the law students in the two divisions to use the ABA's digital toolsto edit and submit their own personalized comments in support of the department's proposal before the May 17 deadline.
