Tarleton State Baseball makes debut in WAC Tournament as 5th seed

STEPHENVILLE, Texas - Texan Baseball has earned a spot in the 2024 WAC Tournament for the program's first go at postseason play in the NCAA Division I era.

After the weekend in Arlington, the Texans solidified the fifth seed heading into the WAC Tournament. The final win over UTA saw the Texans finish with the most wins in the Division I era with a total of 27 on the season and the best conference mark in the DI era at 17-13.

The Purple and White will head to Mesa, Arizona, to take on the eighth seed, Sacramento State, in the single elimination round of the tournament. In the previous meeting with Sacramento State, the Texans took all three games for a weekend sweep in Sacramento.

Tarleton State will take on the Hornets on Tuesday at 6 p.m. CT. A win for the Texans would advance the Purple and White to double-elimination format, where they'd begin against the fourth seed, California Baptist, on Wednesday at 6 p.m. CT.

Due to the reclassification period, Tarleton State remains ineligible for NCAA postseason tournament play.

All WAC Tournament games can be found on ESPN+ or WAC International for those watching outside of the U.S.
