Today, Foreign Minister Diana Mondino received the Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and Environment of the United States Department of State, José Fernández, at the San Martín Palace, with whom she held a working meeting and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation on Critical Minerals.

The purpose of the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the United States is to strengthen cooperation between the Participants on critical mineral resource supply chains and to promote trade and investment between the countries of the Participants in critical mineral resource exploration, extraction, processing and refining, and recycling and recovery. The goal is to increase awareness of investment opportunities and identify potential co-financing opportunities for critical mineral investments.

Under Secretary Fernández' visit follows up on the intense bilateral exchange that has been taking place with the United States in recent months, reflected in the visit of Secretary of State Antony Blinken to Argentina last February, as well as in that of Foreign Minister Mondino to Washington in May of this year as well as the holding of the IV Meeting of the High Level Council of the Framework Agreement on Argentina-United States Trade and Investment last June, among other meetings.

In this context, today's meeting seeks to deepen bilateral cooperation on critical minerals and energy, as well as Argentina's participation in US strategic supply chains.

Furthermore, the US Delegation together with the Ministry of Mining and the Ministry of Energy will launch a Dialogue on Energy Security between the United States and Argentina, to program cooperation actions in these strategic issues.

Through this agreement, Argentina's potential as a reliable supplier of strategic resources will continue to be developed, enhancing the resilience of supply chains in the region and in the world. In this sense, collaboration with the United States is expected to continue in order to ensure the supply of key minerals for energy security as well as working together so that our country occupies a relevant place in the value chains of this new industry.
