Seattle Parks and Recreation Invites Community to Provide Feedback on Pickleball Court Designs at Warren G. Magnuson Park

Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) invites the public to review and share feedback on design concepts for the Pickleball Court Development project at Warren G. Magnuson Park. Please join us on Thursday, November 21st, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at the Magnuson Community Center, located at 7110 62nd Avenue NE.

This event offers community members an opportunity to meet the design team and explore the proposed concepts for the new courts. The preferred design includes up to 24 dedicated pickleball courts on the Children's Hospital park-and-pool lot, located just north of NE 65th Street within Magnuson Park. The project budget currently supports the construction of 8 to 14 courts with lighting, anticipated to open by late 2026.

"We are excited to bring this project to the community and hear your thoughts on the design concepts," said AP Diaz, Seattle Parks and Recreation Superintendent. "Pickleball is a rapidly growing sport in Seattle, and the development of these courts will provide additional opportunity for players of all ages and skill levels to enjoy pickleball."

Due to the project's location, which falls under the scope of the 2003 environmental impact statement for the Wetlands, Courts, and Sports Field project, a supplemental environmental impact statement (SEIS) is required. This SEIS will analyze three potential approaches: (1) no build, (2) building 8-14 courts, or (3) a full build-out of 24 courts. Once a preferred option is selected, the Wetlands and Sports Field Master Plan will be updated to replace an unbuilt ballfield with the preferred pickleball court alternative.
