City of Napa invites District 1 residents to apply for City Council seat

The City of Napa encourages residents of District 1 to apply for an upcoming vacancy on City Council following Councilmember Liz Alessio's election to the Napa County Board of Supervisors. This is a unique opportunity for District 1 community members passionate about making a difference to step into a leadership role. District maps can be found at www.cityofnapa.org/Redistricting

The Napa City Council includes one Mayor and four Councilmembers, who together make policy decisions and oversee essential city services and programs. They also appoint the City Manager, City Attorney, City Clerk and members of city commissions, committees and boards. Councilmembers serve a four-year term and attend City Council meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. The newly appointed member will serve the remainder of the unexpired term, ending in December 2026.

Applications will be accepted from November 12, 2024, to December 20, 2024. Applications will be made available online at www.cityofnapa.org/Elections or via request to the City Clerk at [email protected] or 707-257-9503.The application includes questions about community involvement, vision for the City of Napa and key issues facing residents and businesses. Applicants should also provide two local references.

"This Council seat represents a meaningful opportunity to serve Napa during a pivotal time in our City's development," said City Manager Steve Potter. "We're looking for someone who understands the unique needs of District 1 and can help us continue to preserve what makes Napa special while tackling what's important to our entire community."

Applications will be accepted from November 12 through December 20. Applications will be considered at the January 7, 2025, City Council meeting.
