Marquette University was recognized as one of the top three midsized schools in the Midwest in the Wall Street Journal/College Pulse 2025 Best Colleges in the U.S. rankings. At No. 3, the university is just behind the University of Notre Dame and Washington University in St. Louis and ranks ahead of Northwestern University and the University of Chicago.

The Wall Street Journal/College Pulse 2025 Best Colleges in the U.S. rankings were originally released in September; this week, the publication broke down its ratings by school size and location. Schools are considered midsized if they have 3,000 to 9,999 undergraduate students.

Marquette is ranked No. 55 among all schools; it is the top ranked school in Wisconsin and second among Big East peers.

The ranking measures how well each college sets graduates up for financial success. It looks at how much a school improves students' chances of graduating and their future earnings, balancing these outcomes with feedback from students on college life.
