São Paulo, December 11, 2024 - The wait is over! Stranded with my Mother-in-Law has just shared its trailer, poster and release date: January 2. Start the new year off right by following these six new families who are sure to bring about chaos and lots of fun.
In the trailer, viewers can feel the excitement and chaos to come in the second edition of the original Brazilian reality show, whose first season ranked among Netflix's Global Top 10 for two weeks in 2023. Directly from an island paradise in Alagoas, six families compete for the grand prize of R$ 500,000, facing all-new challenges and learning that to win, they must act as a team amidst a whirlwind of emotions.
In addition to being the hostess, Fernanda Souza is a fan of the show: "I'm totally wild about Stranded , just like millions of people around the world. This project touches people's hearts, and they can really identify with it because family conflict looms over practically everyone's life. The way the show invites the audience to look at their own story and in some way reflect on these transformations, it's charming! You laugh, cry, cheer, feel inspired and fall in love with the participants!" she says.
While the sons and daughters observe from afar, isolated inside a bunker, mothers-in-law, daughters-in-law and sons-in-law struggle to understand each other and overcome their differences. Psychologist Shenia Karlsson makes a return this season as well, providing support to the family members throughout the show.
"This is a project that fills my heart with pride and has a special place in my professional career. The idea of combining a competition for a prize with the mission of nurturing interpersonal relationships is an undoubtedly bold initiative. Acting as mediator for the participating families is an opportunity to dedicate myself to what I love most, immersing myself in the life stories that surround me. Being immersed in the narratives of the participants is electrifying, especially when I realize that I can influence the change of direction that helps them find balance and satisfaction in their relationships," Shenia says.
Hosted by Fernanda Souza and produced by Floresta, the second season of Stranded with my Mother-in-Law is coming to Netflix in two parts: the first four episodes debut on January 2 and the final four on January 9.
Meet the Participating Families:
ARAÚJO FAMILY
The Araújo family consists of entrepreneur Andressa, Henrique, a financial assistant, and Valdiceia, Andressa's retired mother. Andressa and Henrique are in an open relationship, which Valdiceia found strange at first, but has grown to accept. After Henrique moved in with Andressa, the two ended up drifting apart. When Henrique realized that he could not win over his mother-in-law, he began to distance himself. Now, they just make small talk, without deepening the relationship.
DAMASCENO FAMILY
The Damasceno family is made up of the couple Jeu and Mateus, both entrepreneurs, and the photographer Rose, Mateus' mother. Jeu and Rose became very close friends while Mateus lived abroad, to the point where they considered themselves mother and daughter. However, after Rose found out that the couple did not want to have children and that Mateus had decided to have a vasectomy with the support of his daughter-in-law and without telling his mother, the relationship between Rose and Jeu was never the same.
KASHIURA FAMILY
The Kashiura family is formed by the couple Camila and Miguel - Camila, a medical student, and Miguel, a data analyst - and Celina, an administrative assistant and mother of Camila. After talking online for more than a year, Camila and Miguel met in person, fell in love, and Miguel went to live with his girlfriend's family - and that's when the conflicts started. Today, the couple already has their own home, and Celina feels estranged from her daughter, which has become the main source of constant arguments.
MENDONÇA FAMILY
The Mendonça family is formed by the entrepreneur couple Isabella and Raphael, and Raphael's mother, a real estate agent named Patricia. When the couple moved in with Patricia while their apartment was undergoing a renovation, they started to squabble constantly over domestic matters, Isabella's priorities, and how to parent their daughters. Finally, the couple had to leave Patricia's house, though this drama remains a sensitive topic among them.
QUEIROZ FAMILY
The Queiroz family is formed by event analyst Larissa, entrepreneur André, and Dora, André's retired mother. The couple has four children, the first born out of wedlock. The main reason for the conflict is their parenting style, as the children spend most of the time with Dora while their parents work.
SOUSA FAMILY
The Sousa family consists of António and Ana Paula, both models, and António's mother Ioná, a lawyer and dance instructor. Ioná is very attached to António, her only child, despite the fact that they now live in different cities. Wanting to be independent, the couple still depends on Ioná's financial support, which makes their relationship even more complicated.
