Veterans Park Committee to Host Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day Ceremony

The Douglas-Coffee County Veterans Park Committee will host its annual Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day Ceremony on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 10 AM at Cadet Park, located at 1 Airport Circle. World War II Veterans will be recognized at the ceremony. School groups and the public are invited to attend to learn more about Douglas' role during World War II.

The WWII Flight Training Museum will be open for school groups and visitors to view the exhibits and learn more about the history of World War II and how Douglas played a major role in training WWII pilots.

National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day honors and remembers the 2,403 service members and civilians who were killed during the attack by the Japanese on the US naval base in Hawaii on December 7, 1941. The surprise attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese led the United States to enter World War II. According to www.PearlHarborEvents.com, "The goal of the commemoration is to ensure that future generations will understand the valor and legacy of those who perished and those who fought throughout the war. The commemoration also highlights the importance of the peace that brought reconciliation, a reconciliation that continues to move forward today in creating a better future for all."
