Get Ready to Run for the Ronald McDonald House at Stony Brook

5K Race and 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk October 13

Rendering of the Ronald McDonald House at Stony Brook, scheduled to open in 2026.

Ronald McDonald House Charities New York Metro is hosting "Anthony's Red Shoe Fund Run" on Sunday, October 13, to support its capital campaign to build a new $30M house at Stony Brook Children's Hospital.

Scheduled to open in 2026, the house will provide a safe, secure, and comfortable environment for families of children who are hospitalized at Stony Brook Children's Hospital.

At the 60,000 square foot center, families will be able to receive no-cost housing, respite, meals, and hospitality just across the street from their child's bedside. This will be the first Ronald McDonald House located in Suffolk County, and only the second on Long Island.

Check-in and day-of-race registration begins at 9 am, and the race starts at 10 am at the Student Activities Center at Stony Brook University.

Registration fee includes a T-shirt and access to the after-event patio party with music, food trucks and more. Prizes will be awarded to age group categories and teams' categories.

Register for the race online.
