Soldiers and Airmen of the Kansas National Guard will honor their fellow veterans, past and present, by participating in several Veterans Day events in the state.
Monday, Nov. 4
Manhattan
Lt. Col. Adam Pawlosky, commander, Kansas Army National Guard Recruiting and Retention Battalion, will take part in a wreath-laying ceremony for the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility Veteran's Day Commemoration. The event begins at 9 a.m. at the facility, 1980 Denison Ave. on the Kansas State University campus.
Wednesday, Nov. 6
Overland Park
Soldiers of the 1st Battalion, 108th Aviation Regiment will take part in the City of Overland Park Veterans Day Celebration with a static display of a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter. The celebration runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Black & Veatch Headquarters, 11401 Lamar Avenue.
Topeka
Soldiers of Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, Joint Forces Headquarters, will assist with serving the free Veterans Pancake Feed at the Museum of the Kansas National Guard, 125 SE Airport Dr., from 7 to 10 a.m.
Friday, Nov. 8
Pittsburg
Capt. Dustin Hanna, executive officer, 891st Engineer Battalion, will be the guest speaker for the Veterans Day ceremony in the Pittsburg Memorial Auditorium, Crawford County Mental Health Center, 503 N. Pine St. The ceremony will begin at noon.
Saturday, Nov. 9
El Dorado
Soldiers from the 226th Engineer Vertical Construction Company will be driving a military vehicle in the El Dorado Veterans Day Parade through downtown El Dorado starting at 11 a.m.
Emporia
The 1st Battalion, 635th Armored Regiment is providing a Mine-Resistant, Ambush Protected All-Terrain Vehicle for static display at the Emporia Freedom Fest at the All-Veterans Memorial, 933 S. Commercial St., beginning at 9 a.m.
Maj. Gen. Michael Venerdi, Kansas adjutant general, will attend the burial service for the remains of World War II veteran Sgt. John Owen Herrick at Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery, 2000 Prairie Street. The service begins at 2:30 p.m.
Garden City
Soldiers of the 169th Division Sustainment Support Battalion will be driving a military vehicle in Veterans Day parade on Main Street beginning at 10 a.m.
Independence
Soldiers of the 242nd Engineer Company, operating a High Mobility Engineer Excavator, will take part in a Veterans Day Honor Parade in downtown Independence beginning at 2 p.m.
Monday, Nov. 11
Chanute
Soldiers from Forward Support Company, 891st Engineer Battalion, will be participating in the Chanute Veterans Day Parade. Soldiers from the unit will be driving three military vehicles and walking in the parade. The parade starts at 11 am. and travels through downtown Chanute.
Clifton
2nd Lt. Joseph Garten, Company B, 169th Division Sustainment Support Battalion, will be the guest speaker for a Veterans Day parade and ceremony on Main Street, beginning at 2 p.m.
Emporia

Hiawatha
Soldiers of the 2nd Battalion, 130th Field Artillery Regiment will cohost and provide a color guard for the annual American Legion Homer White Post 66 Brown County Veterans Day Dinner, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Kansas National Guard armory, 108 N. 1st St. Lt. Col. Derek Leeds, battalion commander, will be the guest speaker.
Leavenworth
Soldiers of the 35th Infantry Division will participate in the Leavenworth County Veterans Day Parade in downtown Leavenworth. The parade begins at 10:30 a.m.
Lenexa
Col. Mark Scott, commander, Kansas Medical Detachment, will the guest speaker at a Memorial Day service at Catholic Cemeteries of NE Kansas, 8300 Quivira Rd. The service will begin at 2 p.m.
Salina
Soldiers of the Regional Training Site-Maintenance will provide a flag detail for a flag raising ceremony and cannon salute at Salina Area Technical College, 2562 Centennial Road. The ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m.
Master Sgt. David Medina Jr., quality assurance operations noncommissioned officer in charge, 235th Regiment, will be the guest speaker for a Veteran's Day ceremony at the Salina War Memorial in Sunset Park, 700 Sunset Drive. The ceremony will start at 11 a.m.
Wichita
Brig. Gen. Jason Knobbe, commander of the Kanas Air National Guard and assistant adjutant general - Air, will speak to manufacturing technology students at Wichita State University Tech's National Center for Aviation Training, 39th Street, at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 12
Iola
Sgt. 1st Class Dallas Ripper, readiness noncommissioned officer, Headquarters and Headquarters Company 891st Engineer Battalion, will be the guest speaker for the Iola Veterans Day ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Wall in the town square on East Madison Ave. The ceremony will begin at 12 p.m.
