JACKSON COUNTY - MoDOT Kansas City is seeking public input regarding the MO Route 291 northbound and southbound bridges over the Missouri River. For more information, to view project displays and to complete the survey, visit Missouri Route 291 Bridges over the Missouri River in Jackson County | Missouri Department of Transportation (modot.org). The survey will remain open until 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

The project will include replacement of the northbound bridge and rehabilitation of the southbound bridge. The northbound bridge (Liberty Bend Bridge) has been in use since 1949 and while safe, it is scheduled to be replaced to meet current design standards. The southbound bridge was built in 2001 and is scheduled for improvements. This project will address the condition of the northbound bridge and provide maintenance on the southbound bridge. An open house style public meeting was held on Oct. 22 at the Mike Onka Memorial Building in Sugar Creek, MO.

For those unable to access the project information online, project materials are available by request at the MoDOT district office located at 600 NE Colbern Rd. in Lee's Summit, MO. Customers may contact Project Manager Jaclyn White at [email protected].
