Gibson Earns Weekly Honor from the OVC

SIUE graduate student Wes Gibson (Morton, Illinois) has earned recognition as the Ohio Valley Conference men's soccer Defensive Player of the Week after helping SIUE to a pair of wins.

Gibson anchored a defense which picked up two more shutout of the year. Gibson played all but eight minutes, keeping Eastern Illinois and Southern Indiana off the scoresheet despite 20 total shots for the week.

The Defender also contributed to the offense, scoring his first career goal Thursday against EIU.

The award is the second of the year for Gibson and the fourth of his career.

SIUE continues OVC play today at Lindenwood.
