The historic building of the Bulgarian Parliament at 2 National Assembly Square was illuminated in green light on 5 October 2024 in solidarity with the European Day of Organ Donation and Transplantation, celebrated annually on the initiative of the Council of Europe.

On this occasion, the President of the Parliament, Raya Nazaryan, said that by joining the campaign, the National Assembly expresses its commitment to this noble cause, pays tribute to organ donors and shows respect to their families for the humanity and responsiveness to others' pain shown at the most difficult time. Today's initiative is a sign of gratitude to the medical teams who work in the field of transplantation and give people a second chance for life, she noted. The European Day is also part of the efforts to draw public attention to the importance of donation and transplantation and to build public trust in the process, Raya Nazaryan added.

Parliament's involvement in the information campaign is at the invitation of the Executive Agency "Medical Supervision", which is organising a series of events to mark the European Day of Organ Donation and Transplantation.
