BOROUGH PRESIDENT GIBSON AND HER AFRICAN ADVISORY COUNCIL HOST HISTORIC AFRICAN UNION FLAG RAISING AT BRONX BOROUGH HALL

Bronx, NY - On Tuesday, May 28th, Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson and her African Advisory Council hosted the first-ever African Union flag-raising in the Bronx at Borough Hall located at 851 Grand Concourse. With the Bronx home to the largest concentration of African immigrants in the entire nation, the historic event held immense significance and pride for the borough's vibrant community.

Dr. Andrise Bass, PhD, Global Peace Ambassador and Founder of the Institute of Public Policy and Diplomacy Research, emceed the event, and the Consul General of the Kingdom of Morocco; Chair of NYC African Consul Generals, H.E. Abdelkader Jamoussi, was the keynote speaker. Other dignitaries including several African Consul Generals and Executive Director of 161st BID, Trey Jenkins, were amongst those in attendance.

This year's honorees were:

Jerry Kwabena Kansis Adinkra - Brooklyn Ambassador, Founder, Ghanaian Heritage and Culture organization in New York

Christian Ruart - Owner, Ruart Fashion Group and Consulting

Mr. Leroy Freeman Jr., (Coach Freeman) - Founder, Bronx Colts Youth Foundation, Inc.
