Sahara Sampson, a graduate student pursuing a master's degree in art therapy at the George Washington University, was presented with the Cay Dracknick Minorities Fund at the American Art Therapy Association's55th annual conference.

The scholarship aims to help students and art therapy's newest professionals gain access to resources and networking opportunities as they enter their careers in the field and help develop the future of the profession.

Sampson currently interns with EYL 365, an organization that offers community-based arts education programs, as a teaching artist. She facilitates art activities for children that promote social-emotional development and provides various activities to aid in emotional regulation. The lessons in the class aim to address self-awareness, self-esteem and self-concept through intentional art directives and group discussions.
