GW Student Received Art Therapy Scholarship

Youn Ji Lee was presented with an award that recognized the importance of supporting underserved and marginalized individuals through art therapy.

Youn Lee is a graduate student pursuing a master's in art therapy at GW.

Youn Ji Lee, a graduate student pursuing a master's degree in art therapy at the George Washington University, received the Pearlie Roberson Award at the American Art Therapy Association's55th annual conference.

The award honors Pearlie Roberson, an African American artist and art therapy client, and supports efforts to enhance the multicultural aspects of the therapeutic experience. It is specifically designed to advance the association's mission to advocate for the expansion of providing art therapy to the underserved, marginalized and those who have difficulties accessing help.

Lee is studying art therapy to support individuals, especially the elderly, who face emotional challenges through artistic expression. She utilizes textile and acrylic paint on canvas in her work.
