How the City of Las Vegas Supports Local Businesses in the 18b Arts District

The city of Las Vegas cares about residents and businesses and knows how vital both are to making the 18b Arts District and the rest of the downtown community thrive, so we'll always do our part to help and support them in any way we can.
Here are some ways we support local businesses in the 18b Arts District.

There has been an issue of copper thefts in the city, so the city council passed an ordinance on Sept. 4, 20204, to discourage people from stealing copper wire by making it unlawful for anyone to purchase scrap metal or seven-strand utility wire in city limits that have not been transported to the purchaser using a motor vehicle, and is without proper documentation and payment verification.

Since October 2022, over 100 miles of copper wire have been stolen or damaged in the city. Over one million dollars in time and materials have been spent addressing copper wire theft.
The 'Problem Orienting Policing' Team, or 'P.O.P. Team' for short -- is another way we support local businesses and business owners in the Arts District.
P.O.P. Team officers are focused on building relationships in the community, and they always communicate with local business owners to find out their concerns or needs.
They also work to build relationships with the unhoused community to connect them to resources such as the Courtyard Homeless Resource Center
