Pueblo Parks and Recreation Prepares to Install LED Lights at Pickleball Courts

PUEBLO-City of Pueblo Parks and Recreation will begin installation of new LED lights at the Pickleball Courts located at Mineral Palace Park on Tuesday, August 13. The Pickleball Courts will remain closed during the light installation process and signs will be posted to help communicate this with patrons.

"We are excited to install the new LED lights at the Mineral Palace Park Pickleball Court facility," said Director of Pueblo Parks and Recreation Steven Meier. "These lights are a huge benefit to our vibrant pickleball community, and this has been a request since we opened the facility in September of 2022."

This LED light installation is part of the lease/purchasing plan, which was approved by Pueblo City Council on April 22, 2024. The LED light installation lease/purchase plan included lights located at Mineral Palace Park Pickleball Courts and the City Parks Fields #3 and #4. The installation at the two fields has begun with pole installation and completion of the field lights will be announced to the public once a date is finalized.

The Pickleball Court light pole installation is anticipated to be completed by August 15, weather permitting. The lights will be completed at a later date and Pueblo Parks and Recreation will keep the public informed of further information.

"We know it can be inconvenient when we have to shut down a location temporarily, so we thank the public for their understanding as we work to update the Pickleball court facility with the new lights," said Meier.

Pueblo Parks and Recreation has eight Pickleball Courts located at Mineral Palace Park, which are free to the public during hours of operation from 7:30 a.m. until dusk. The light installation will allow for extended hours.

Additionally, Pueblo Parks and Recreation offers sessions for Pickleball lessons and league play. Pickleball league includes Monday evening recreational league and Wednesday evening competitive league. This includes players ages 13 and older and is offered from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Each session offered has a $20 fee for league play.
