Kris Maes performs robotic surgery for WRSE12 world congress

The Hospital da Luz urologist integrates the restricted group of surgeons in the major world event of robotic surgery broadcasting

Kris Maes, Hospital da Luz Lisboa urologist, is one of the 20 surgeons from 13 centres all over the world that will be participating, next October 10, in WRSE12, the major annual event of live broadcasting of urologic robotic surgeries. The coordinator of the Robotic and Minimally Invasive Surgery Centre at Hospital da Luz Lisboa will perform a robot-assisted radical prostatectomy, scheduled to start at 8.15 a.m. CET (7.15 a.m. in Portugal).

"Learning with the best surgeons in the world" is the motto of WRSE12 (Worldwide Robotic Surgery 12 Hour Event), designed for specialists who wish to upgrade on the latest procedures and the best practices in oncologic urologic robotic surgery. In all, the WRSE will broadcast 20 surgeries, performed in different parts of the globe, in hospitals centres of reference in this area.

The doctor and his Hospital da Luz Lisboa team will demonstrate a "zero clip Lisbon RARP", a technique developed to achieve the best ontological and functional results. Besides Kris Maes, the panel of surgeons includes, among others, Alberto Breda (MD Fundació Puigvert, Barcelona), Alexandre Mottrie (Aalst, Belgium), James Porter (Seattle), Rafael Coelho (São Paulo), Simone Crivelaro (Chicago), Peter Wiklund (Mount Sinai, New York), Ruben de Groote (Aalst, Orsi Academy) and Vipul Patel (Celebrations Hospital, Orlando, USA).

The WRSE is an event promoted by the robotic urology department of the European Association of Urology (ERUS - EAU) and Young Academic Urologists (YAU). All physicians are free to register and participate online.
