F4E and EUROfusion reinforce collaboration

Fusion for Energy (F4E) and EUROfusion have taken a significant step to strengthen their partnership with a renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement was signed by F4E's Director, Marc Lachaise, and exiting EUROfusion Programme Manager, Ambrogio Fasoli, during the 49th EUROfusion General Assembly, held at F4E's headquarters in Barcelona.

F4E and the European fusion laboratories, participating in the EUROfusion consortium, already engage in a wide range of activities in fusion R&D and engineering. Present collaborations include the operation of JT-60SA, the design of Test Blanket Modules, the commissioning of MITICA and LIPAc, or the preparation for DONES, to name a few.

The MoU sets a broad scope for future activities drawing upon knowledge transfer and the possibility of mutual in-kind contributions (e.g., posting of personnel or experts). The parties will detail further the collaboration activities through different Multiannual Programme Plans.

"The MoU builds on years of trust and reaffirms our commitment to the success of Europe's fusion roadmap, together with our contribution to the delivery of fusion projects. We plan to capitalise on the experience and expertise of F4E and EUROfusion staff by fostering new synergies," said F4E Director, Marc Lachaise.
