Monarchs in the Park Festival returns to Andrews Park for 2024 Celebration in October

September 14, 2024

The Monarchs in the Park Festival returns to Andrews Park, 201 W. Daws Street, on October 5 and community members can join in on the fun from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event, hosted through the Division of Environmental Resilience and Sustainability at the City of Norman, will include activities for all ages and there is no cost to attend.

"Pollinators power our planet," said City of Norman Manager and Event Coordinator Michele Loudenback. "We are looking forward to a day of celebrating them with neighbors and sharing an array of great information alongside community partners. We always have such an amazing time at this event!"

Festival goers can catch live music, visit unique vendors, try label-specific locally brewed beverages, and hear from experts on all things environmental sustainability.

"The National Phenology Network's citizen science projecton nectar and flowering plants across the south-central United States - to include Oklahoma - is going to be discussed and we are really looking forward to that," Loudenback said. "Attendees can also enter a drawing to win a butterfly bench made by Ohana Butterflies - there's so much to look forward to! We're hoping the entire community joins us for the festival."

Other activities will include butterfly-wing making, art exhibitions, family-friendly games, raffle drawings and face painting. Food trucks will be available, as well.

Major 2024 festival sponsors include: Midway Deli, Ohana Butterflies, Sierra Club and Scissortail Cycling. Volunteers, additional sponsors and vendors are still being sought to help make this event possible. Call 405.292.9731 or visit https://www.normanok.gov/monarchs-parkfor more information.
