Winners of International Olympiad in Humanities and Social Science Among Students from CIS Countries Determined

The International Olympiad in Humanities and Social Sciences for students from CIS has concluded. The Organizing Committee has summed up the results of the final stage, in which participants wrote essays on one of the selected topics.

36 participants, who scored 80 or more points competed in the final round, while 9 pupils with scores ranging from 70 to 79 points became the prize winners. The finalists represent the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, and the Russian Federation.

The main goal of the Olympiad is to promote knowledge about democratic development in the modern society, parliamentarism and human rights principles.

The competition aims to develop creativity and passion to science, strengthen friendships among youth from CIS countries, support talented students, and promote the Russian language as a language of interethnic communications.

A total of 1,668 individuals from nine CIS countries registered to participate in the Olympiad. Not only residents of capitals and big cities but also students from towns, villages and rural areas applied to take part in the competition.

The decision to hold the International Olympiad in Humanities and Social Sciences for CIS school students was made by the Council of the IPA CIS. The project is implemented at the initiative of the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD) , with co-organizers including the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia , the Saratov State Law Academy, and the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University.

The IPA CIS Council decided to hold the International Olympiad in Humanities and Social Science. The IPA CIS IIMDD implements the initiative, while the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia, the Saratov State Law Academy, and the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University are co-organizers of the competition.
