Meet the new panel for the Ethnic Communities Development Fund

Ogonna Nweke

Ogonna, who identifies as West African, is a management consultant with EY based in Auckland. She serves on the Auckland Ethnic Community Advisory Panel. She is a member of DearEM, the youth wing of HELP Auckland, a specialist family and interpersonal violence service. Ogonna is passionate about mental health and supporting young ethnic youth across New Zealand.

Anwar-ul Ghani

Anwar, based in Hamilton and of Indian ethnicity, has been involved in ethnic community resettlement projects for 30 years. He has also worked on national-level interfaith and social cohesion issues and is a member of the Waikato Community Lottery Board. Anwar brings extensive grassroots experience and a faith perspective to the panel.

The new members will join Gurdeep Talwar on the panel.

Gurdeep Talwar (JP)

Gurdeep Talwar is a seasoned management consultant and leader with extensive experience across various sectors. He has served on numerous non-profit boards and committees. He is known for his work on a report highlighting the economic contributions of New Zealand's ethnic communities, valued at $64 billion annually.

Gurdeep is committed to community safety and wellbeing, serving on the Hato St John committee and as a National Board Trustee for Community Patrols of New Zealand. He is also the President of the Institute of Management Consultants New Zealand. Gurdeep's dedication to ethnic communities, strategic insight, and problem-solving skills are widely recognised.

We are excited to have such a diverse and experienced group on the ECDF Panel to guide the distribution of funds and support the growth and success of New Zealand's ethnic communities.
