Statement by Foreign Ministry of Belarus on the situation in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation

We perceive with great concern and pain the events taking place in recent days in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.

We strongly condemn the actions of the Ukrainian armed formations that have embarked on this senseless adventure, which is intensifying the conflict in our region.

Attacks on the civilian population, peaceful villages and towns, targeted damage to infrastructure and acts of terror are unacceptable to us.

The Ukrainian side is taking all these actions against the background of statements by its political leadership that it is ready for negotiations. In reality, such escalation only distances the prospects for resuming negotiations and ending the conflict, as the Belarusian side has consistently called for.

We express our support and solidarity with the residents of Kursk region. We express our condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims and wish the injured a speedy recovery.
