Caltrans Invites Public to Attend Informational Session for Lagunitas Creek Bridge Replacement Project on Oct. 9 in Point Reyes

Published: Oct 04, 2024

Marin County - Caltrans (District 4, Bay Area) invites the public to join an in-person informational session on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024, between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. at The Dance Palace, 503 B St. in Point Reyes.

Caltrans will provide information to the public about the Lagunitas Creek Bridge Replacement Project, which is scheduled for construction on State Route 1 (SR-1) in the summer of 2026.

The Lagunitas Creek Bridge is located just south of Point Reyes Station and north of the intersection with Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, approximately four-tenths of a mile east of the San Andreas fault. It serves as a vital connection between communities north and south of Point Reyes Station for residents, tourists, delivery trucks, emergency responders, transit providers, pedestrians, bicyclists, and equestrians.

Caltrans has completed final designs for the project, which will replace the Lagunitas Creek Bridge with a new bridge including wider shoulders and an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant sidewalk and curb ramps.

A crosswalk will also be added across Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at the SR-1 intersection to provide continuous safe access over Lagunitas Creek and into Point Reyes Station. In addition, the culvert north of the bridge will be lengthened to match the new bridge width.

This project plans to maintain a long-term local and regional connectivity for the surrounding communities in Marin County. This project also will be presented at an upcoming California Coastal Commission hearing.
