Charges Filed on 15 Year Old Who Shot Teen Multiple Times

August 23, 2024, Peoria, IL- Today, the Peoria County State's Attorney's Office has charged a 15-year-old male with Attempt Murder and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm for shooting a 16-year-old male Tuesday night in South Peoria. Around 7:30 pm Tuesday, officers responded to the 2700 block of W. Wyoming on a report of a person shot. When officers arrived, they found the victim lying in the alleyway with multiple gunshot wounds. He remains hospitalized in critical condition. Officers were able to develop the defendant as a suspect. While executing a search warrant at the defendant's home, a gun was recovered. Shell casings from that gun matched the casings recovered from the shooting.

Our office is filing a Petition to Transfer the case to adult court. The defendant will remain in custody at the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.
