Lane Closure Advisory for the Interstate 285 Westbound Auxiliary Lane Project

WHAT: Weather permitting, Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) contractors will implement overnight lane closures and traffic pacing on Interstate 285 eastbound between Riverside Drive and Roswell Road beginning Tuesday, October 1, through Saturday, October 12.

Motorists can expect two, left lanes to be closed nightly on I-285 eastbound between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.

These lane closures and pacing will allow for bridge and median construction work.

WHEN/WHERE:

Pacing Operation:

Tuesday, October 1, through Saturday, October 12, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

  • Pacing operation on I-285 eastbound from Riverside Drive to Roswell Road

Overnight Closures:

Tuesday, October 1, through Saturday, October 12, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

  • Up to two left lanes and shoulder closure on I-285 eastbound from Riverside Drive to Roswell Road (a single, left-lane and shoulder closure will begin at 8 p.m., and a double-lane closure will start at 10 p.m.)

The I-285 Westbound Auxiliary Lane project extends the auxiliary lane between Roswell Road and Riverside Drive and reconstructs the Mt. Vernon Highway bridge over I-285.

The I-285 Westbound Auxiliary Lane project is one of the I-285 Advanced Improvement Projects. It is part of the large-scale MMIP projects advancing across the state to create additional capacity to improve freight movement, provide operational improvements and efficiencies, enhance safety, and decrease travel times on the transportation network.

ADVISORY: The exact time may change due to weather conditions. There may be intermittent traffic pacing and lane and ramp closures that occur within the work zone in addition to this notice. Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, reduce speed while traveling through work zones, stay alert, and watch for workers. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.
