Rural Families Rally Around Dobson in District 2 Race

By Marlee Jackson

On a fall afternoon in rural Mobile County, Caroleene Dobson props on one knee to get eye-level with Marshall and McLain Turk. She asks the pint-sized brothers about school, flashes a smile and stands to resume her conversation with the boys' mother, Hannah.

They're talking about education. It's a topic Dobson, a working mom of two, has frequently discussed with concerned community members while running a campaign to represent Alabama's 2nd Congressional District. The election is Nov. 5.

"People want their kids to be safe and have opportunities," said Dobson, the Republican nominee. "There's so much more we can do on those fronts, and so many others, to improve our quality of life."

The Turks are one of countless families who have rallied around Dobson. Hannah and her husband, Dillon, are raising three children in the district, which includes Barbour, Bullock, Butler, Conecuh, Crenshaw, Macon, Monroe, Montgomery, Pike, Russell and Washington counties, plus parts of Clarke and Mobile counties.

Hannah said Dobson is relatable, citing her friendly personality, fresh perspective, Christian beliefs and background growing up on a cattle farm in Monroe County.

"My favorite thing about Caroleene is that she's God-fearing," Hannah said. "The first thing she does when faced with a problem is pray about it. We're supporting Caroleene because we are confident she will fight for our farmers and our children. She personally knows the fears and concerns parents face in today's world and is an inspiration to me as a mother. I know what she's willing to sacrifice so she can fight to bring back the American dream for our children."

A working mom of two who wants to improve life in the district for future generations, Caroleene Dobson, left, has resonated with voters like Hannah Turk of Mobile County.

Conservative values fuel Dobson's vision to preserve District 2's distinct identity while ensuring a brighter future.

Her strongest motivators, however, are her children, Philippa and Lydia.

"I'm invested in the next generation and am concerned about the world they're inheriting," Dobson said. "I grew up with the values of stewardship ingrained in me, the idea that we have a responsibility to use our resources in the best way possible and leave things better than we found them. That's why I'm in this race."

Dobson's young daughters and husband Bobby often join her on the campaign trail. Frank conversations with community members - who range from farmers, truckers and small-business owners to nurses, manufacturers and teachers - have deepened Dobson's knowledge of the district's needs. She's earned enthusiastic endorsements from grassroots groups such as the Alabama Farmers Federation.

"Every day, I meet someone working hard to improve their communities," Dobson said. "We are diverse in this district but find unity in our commitment to faith, hard work and humility."

Dobson is a real estate attorney who also serves landowners as a member of the Alabama Forestry Commission.

In Congress, Dobson said she would support energy independence, a strong military and a secure border. Additional points of emphasis include the need to strengthen rural economies, expand educational freedom, safeguard communities and roll back regulatory overreach.

"There are no greater people than those who call our district home," Dobson said. "It would be my honor to fight for my fellow Alabamians every day and make life better for our families, our children and future generations."
