ANACOM participates in the launch of the Nuvem project

The Chairwoman of ANACOM's Board of Directors, Sandra Maximiano, was present on 26 July 2024, at the ceremony during which the Nuvem project was presented and launched. This project, developed by Google, consists of a new transatlantic submarine cable system that will directly connect Portugal to the United States of America (USA).

Google's new intercontinental submarine cable, with an intermediate mooring in the Azores (São Miguel island), will be the first direct link between the USA and Portugal (Sines), making Portugal's connectivity with all inhabited continents a reality.

The ceremony, which took place at the Conceição Palace in Ponta Delgada (Azores), was attended by representatives from Google Portugal, the Regional Government of the Azores and other regional and national organisations.
