The City of Sacramento recently celebrated the installation of 18 new public art pieces along the Del Rio Trail, turning this 4.8-mile path into an "outdoor museum."
At the celebration, community members had the chance to meet the artists and City staff, explore the artworks, and experience the trail's transformation firsthand.
The Del Rio Trail, which opened last spring, runs through the Land Park, South Land Park, Freeport Manor, Z'Berg, Pocket and Meadowview neighborhoods. It allows people to access William Land Park, the Sacramento Zoo, schools, stores, restaurants, retail centers, jobs and other community parks without a car.
The Del Rio Trail art project, led by the City's Office of Arts and Culture and funded by Clean California grants, brought together 27 artists to create trail-inspired artworks in various disciplines, engaging the community throughout their creative processes.
The Del Rio Trail now features 18 permanent artworks created by various artists and artist teams, along with 12 interpretive signs installed along the path.

Those who missed the events can still visit the Del Rio Trail independently to view the artworks.
Navigation tip: Start at the north end of the trail near Riverside Boulevard and 13th Avenue or the south end near Pocket Road and Freeport Boulevard.
