PennDOT’s Westmoreland County Maintenance Update

​Uniontown, PA - Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Westmoreland County Maintenance Manager Dave Forkey has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of August 26. All maintenance activities are conducted depending on weather and operations.

​Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive with caution through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the use of headlights. Safety is everyone's responsibility.

Box culvert replacement:

• Route 4089 (Hulton Road) in Allegheny Township.

Parallel ditching:

• Route 3073 (Westley Chapel Road) in East Huntingdon Township.

Patching:

• Route 130 in Hempfield Township.
• Route 3018 (Evanstown Road) in Hempfield Township.
• Route 3015 (Turkey Hollow Road) in Rostraver Township.
• Route 3037 (Waltz Mills Road) in South Huntingdon Township.
• Various routes in Westmoreland County.

Pipe installation:

• Route 1006 (Creek Road) in Fairfield Township.

Pipe repair:

• Route 2041 (Horseshoe Bend Road) in Ligonier Township.

Seal coating:

• Route 259 (Coal Pit Road) in Ligonier Township.
• Route 1021 (Springer Road) in Ligonier Township.
• Route 1017 (Wilpen Road) in Ligonier Township.
• Route 1008 (Derry Ridge Road) in Fairfield Township.

Shoulder cutting:

• Route 819 in South Huntingdon Township.

Shoulder stabilization:

• Route 2025 (Clay Pike Road) in Mount Pleasant Township.
• Route 3016 (Middletown Road) in Hempfield Township.

Side dozing:

• Route 271 from New Florence to Saint Clair Township.

Slide repair:

• Route 1067 (Loughner Road) in Fairfield Township.
• Route 2025 (Ankney Hill Road) in Mount Pleasant Township.

Sweeping:

• Route 259 (Coal Pit Road) in Ligonier Township.
• Route 1021 (Springer Road) in Ligonier Township.
• Route 1017 (Wilpen Road) in Ligonier Township.
• Route 1008 (Derry Ridge Road) in Fairfield Township.

• Interstate 70 in South Huntington Township.
• Various in Westmoreland County.

Litter crews will be picking litter on various routes throughout the county as weather and other activities permit.

Signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced, and work orders will be addressed on various state routes throughout the county.

PennDOT has a toll-free number for residents to call to report any road maintenance concern. This number can also be utilized to report locations of dead deer on state highways. The number is 1.800.FIX ROAD (1.800.349.7623).

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
