RUMOR CONTROL: Tropical Development in the Next 7 Days

Rumors and fake online posts that another tropical cyclone is "coming behind Hurricane Milton" are false, according to the Florida Keys National Weather Service.

During the past few days, several social media posts have shown another hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico or Western Caribbean. This has spurred numerous rumors, according to officials.

"At the current time, the National Hurricane Center is not tracking or issuing advisories or statements on another system behind Milton," said Chip Kasper, the meteorologist in charge of the Keys' weather service office.

"Other than Milton, the NHC is monitoring Hurricane Leslie, but it is very far out in the Atlantic Ocean, and two low-pressure systems in the Atlantic with low probabilities to develop - and all pose no threat to the Keys," he added. "There is no other tropical development expected for the next seven days."
