FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ballots for the November 5 General Municipal Election have been mailed to all registered voters. This is the City of Irvine's first district-based election, and Irvine voters will notice some changes on their ballots with this transition.
In March, nearly 60% of Irvine voters approved Measure D, also known as the Council Expansion and Districting charter amendment. The measure expands the City Council from five to seven members and shifts elections from at-large to district-based.
Voters in every district will have the opportunity to elect a Mayor for a two-year term. Voters in District 1 will elect a Councilmember for a two-year term. Voters in Districts 2, 3, and 4 will elect a Councilmember for a four-year term.
Voters in Districts 5 and 6 will vote for a Councilmember to represent their district in November 2026. Until then, residents will continue to be represented by Councilmembers at-large.
To help voters find their district and discover key features and facilities within it, including Vote Centers and Ballot Drop Box locations, the City has launched a voting district dashboard. This resource is available at cityofirvine.org/yourdistrict and is intended to better educate residents on their districts and create a more informed community.
All eligible residents who are not registered to vote are encouraged to register by Monday, October 21. Registration can be completed online at ocvote.gov(link is external)or by mail. Voter registration forms are available at the Irvine Civic Center, in local libraries and post offices, and City of Irvine community centers.
Where to Vote
Ballots can be returned by mail or at a secure Ballot Drop Box anywhere in Orange County beginning October 7.
