Champlain male arrested for assault 2nd

On August 28, 2024, State Police members arrested Daniel F. Hotchkiss, age 41, of Champlain, NY, for assault 2nd.

On August 24, 2024, at approximately 5:52 p.m., Troopers responded to Perry Mills Road in the town of Champlain for an assault complaint. An investigation determined the victim was riding a motorcycle when Hotchkiss came up from behind the victim on his motorcycle. Hotchkiss presented a knife, and while passing the victim, he cut the victim on the left arm. The victim suffered a large laceration. The victim was transported to the University of Vermont Health Network at the Champlain Valley Physician's Hospital (CVPH), where the victim was treated and released.

Hotchkiss was located, arrested, and transported to SP Champlain for processing. He was arraigned in the Town of Champlain Court, where he was remanded to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash bail, $4,000 bond, or $6,000 partially secured bond.
