NOPD Investigates Fatal Hit and Run in Seventh District

The NOPD is investigating a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred last night (July 18, 2024) in the 14200 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

At 10:28 p.m., an NOPD Reserve Sergeant was traveling Westbound in the righthand lane of Chef Menteur Highway and spotted an unresponsive adult female in the left lane. EMS responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian deceased.

Through investigation, it was determined that the pedestrian was walking along the road when an unknown vehicle struck her and fled.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
