Brown Rudnick Again Earns Planet Mark Certification for Sustainability Efforts

For the second consecutive year, Brown Rudnick has been awarded the Planet Mark certification, underscoring the firm's dedication to environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility.

Planet Mark, a U.K.-based international sustainability consultant, awards certification to businesses that are committed to measuring and reducing carbon emissions. Brown Rudnick partnered with Planet Mark on its sustainability program in 2022 and has achieved certification each year since 2023.

The new certification verified that Brown Rudnick, as part of measuring and reducing its carbon footprint, is contributing to the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals and aligning its practice with its clients and teams.

"We are incredibly proud to have again achieved this certification, which helps us along the journey to improve our own sustainability" said Neil Foster, lead sustainability champion and co-chair of Brown Rudnick's Energy Transition practice. "We believe that sustainability is not only a moral imperative, it is also a competitive strength because it helps us attract and retain the best talent and the best clients. Our clients and people care about sustainability and clients increasingly require their suppliers, including law firms, to explain and report on their own sustainability programmes. We are very pleased to report a reduction in our emissions per employee for the reporting period, and will strive to continue to reduce emissions further in our third reporting period."

As part of this initiative, Brown Rudnick has an internal group of sustainability champions, comprising both lawyers and business professionals across the firm's offices in London and the U.S. Among the major changes are the reduction of paper usage, increased recycling efforts (including IT equipment and batteries), LED lighting, and elimination of plastic water bottles, plastic utensils and paper cups.
