Round Rock City Council green lights Red Bud North widening project

Round Rock City Council voted Oct. 10 to green light the construction of the Red Bud Lane North project, which will widen the roadway from Highway 79 to County Road 117.

Council members voted unanimously to approve award the contract for the job to Joe Bland Construction LLC, and construction is expected to begin in late 2025 or early 2026. The project will upgrade the existing two-lane roadway to a new four-lane divided including intersection, curb and gutter and pedestrian improvements. Construction is expected to last a total of two years. The cost of the construction is $26,835,030.

The Red Bud Lane North project in Round Rock is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements aimed at enhancing traffic flow and safety in the area. The project focuses on the northern section of Red Bud Lane and includes widening the road to accommodate more lanes, improving intersections, adding sidewalks, and ensuring better connectivity for both vehicles and pedestrians.

Design on the project began in 2019 and the City held public meetings in January and July 2020 to share project details and hear feedback from the community.
