City & State named Baruch College President S. David Wu to its "2024 Manhattan Power 100" list, which profiles "the central players at the center of the world"-the most influential people in the borough.

With honorees representing a broad range of sectors, President Wu was the highest ranked college or university president on this year's list, placing at #45 among prominent New Yorkers, such as Bloomberg LP founder and owner Michael Bloomberg; Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg; Chinatown Partnership Executive Director Wellington Chen; Northwell Health President and CEO Michael Dowling; President and CEO The Apollo Michelle Ebanks; and Manhattan Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jessica Walker, among others.

The City University of New York Chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodríguez and Board of Trustees Chair Bill Thompson also made the list at #17.

Baruch: "A model for upward mobility"

In its profile of President Wu, City & State pointed to his track record of visionary leadership, ensuring Baruch College serves as a national model for access and excellence.

City & State said: "When David Wu took the job of running Baruch College in February 2020, he had no idea what was in store for him. Wu, the first Asian American educator to lead a City University of New York school, established a task force to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 while also keeping an eye on how to position Baruch for the future by increasing instructional options and expanding online courses. Baruch has since become a model for upward mobility, with 74% of its students graduating within six years."

Earlier this year, President Wu was recognized on City & State's "2024 Power of Diversity: Asian 100" list, and in 2023, the premier media organization named him a lifetime achievement honoree on its "50 Over 50: The Age Disrupters" list.
