Save the date for Welcome Week events kicking off the fall semester

Celebrate the start of the 2024-25 academic year with a full slate of events leading up to the first day of classes! From festivals and fairs to athletics to music, don't miss these opportunities to connect with the campus community. Check out the full schedule below.

Kenai River Campus Open House and 60th Anniversary Celebration| Tuesday, Aug. 20, 4-7 p.m. | Kenai River Campus in Soldotna

Join the Kenai River Campus of Kenai Peninsula College for an open house celebrating their 60th anniversary! Enjoy local food trucks (free to guests while supplies last), family-friendly fun and the opportunity to explore the Soldotna campus while connecting with students, faculty and staff.

Residence Life Fall Move-In| Thursday, Aug. 22, and Friday, Aug. 23 | UAA Residence Halls

UAA Residence Life is gearing up for a full house this semester with an estimated 740 students living on campus. Welcome UAA's new and returning residents to campus by lending a helping hand during move-in. Volunteer sign-upsare open through Aug. 18.

Faculty and Staff Convocation| Friday, Aug. 23, 8:30-10 a.m. Wendy Williamson Auditorium

Reconnect with colleagues, and celebrate staff and faculty milestones as we usher in the new academic year with Chancellor Parnell and UAA leadership. Light refreshments will be served. Please RSVP by Aug. 21to attend in person and receive your logo wear at the event or join us online.

UAA Kids Day at the Alaska State Fair| Friday, Aug. 23, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. State Fairgrounds in Palmer

Pull out your best green and gold gear and join UAA at the Alaska State Fair for a day of fun! UAA is proud to sponsor Kids Day on Friday, Aug. 23, celebrating our youngest fairgoers. Enjoy kid-friendly and parent-approved events, plus free admission for kids 12 and under. Find UAA in Pioneer Plaza on Aug. 23 and visit UAA's Mat-Su College cabin on the Red Trail daily.

Women's Volleyball vs. Seawolf Alumni| Saturday, Aug. 24, 1 p.m. Alaska Airlines Center Auxiliary Gym

Enjoy a free volleyball exhibition match between this year's team and past Seawolf alumni ahead of the season opener against Saint Martin's on Thursday, Sept. 26.

Campus Kickoff Festival| Saturday, Aug. 24, 2-6 p.m. Student Union, Avis Alaska Sports Complex and South Lot

Celebrate the beginning of the semester at this annual tradition. Enjoy food trucks and live entertainment, plus get acquainted with the campus community and find out how to get involved as a Seawolf. Try your hand at a number of games and interactive activities, including a puck shoot with UAA's hockey team, karaoke with a UAA twist, canoe battleship, esports gaming and a virtual scavenger hunt. This free event is open to all Seawolves, friends and family members.

Campus Kickoff Concert| Saturday, Aug. 24, 7 p.m. Alaska Airlines Center

The dynamic K Camp and local sensation Husse kick off post-festival fun. The concert is free for students, faculty and staff (including a plus-one) with an active WolfCard. General admission ticketsare available to the public with advance prices starting at $24. Doors open at 6 p.m. Show starts at 7 p.m. Arrive early to catch every moment of the action!

First Day of Classes| Monday, Aug. 26 | All campuses and online

Instruction for the fall 2024 semester begins Monday, Aug. 26. Bookmark all academic dates and deadlinesfor the year, and familiarize yourself with free academic resources and supportavailable to all students.
