For the first time, Northwestern University Library is showcasing dozens of items from the one-of-a-kind Garry Marshall Collection, documenting the life and work of the legendary TV and film writer, director and producer and Northwestern alum. The public exhibition, open now through the end of the fall quarter, offers a rare opportunity to explore the historic career of Marshall '56, who passed away in 2016.
Best known for creating iconic sitcoms like "Happy Days," "Laverne & Shirley" and "Mork & Mindy," as well as directing blockbuster films such as "Pretty Woman" and "The Princess Diaries," Marshall made many contributions to the field of entertainment that continue to shape audiences around the world.
The Garry Marshall Collection features scripts, props, costumes, correspondences and pop-culture memorabilia from his long-standing career as a writer, producer and director.
The exhibition is open now through the end of fall quarter on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A public reception with the Marshall family is planned for Friday, Nov. 15, from 3 to 5 p.m.
