Schuylkill County Communities Awarded Grants to Improve Parks, Recreation

HARRISBURG - State grants totaling $200,000 were awarded to improve outdoor recreation in Schuylkill County, according to Sen. Dave Argall (R-29) and Rep. JoAnne Stehr (R-107), who worked with local leaders to secure this funding.

"I'm very grateful that these dollars-this highly competitive funding-will improve opportunities for my constituents to enjoy the natural beauty of our area," said Argall.

"These grants bring valuable improvements to our local parks and trails, creating safe, accessible spaces for residents to enjoy," said Stehr. "Investing in recreational facilities and green spaces enhances our communities and supports a healthier, more connected lifestyle for everyone."

  • Foster Township was awarded $70,000 to further develop Foster Township Community Park. Work will include the construction of a pickleball court and more improvements.
  • Frailey Township was awarded $80,000 to further develop Good Spring Park and Trail. Work will include the construction of a pavilion and pedestrian walkway and other improvements.
  • Hubley Township was awarded $50,000 to further develop Hubley Township Park. Work will include the construction of pedestrian walkways and parking area, the installation of new playground equipment, and other improvements.

This funding was awarded through the Community Conservation Partnerships Program, which supports projects to improve parks, recreation, and conservation across Pennsylvania.
