Tropical Storm Debby

Camden County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is carefully monitoring Tropical Storm Debby for impacts on Camden County.

A Tropical Storm Watch and Storm Surge Watch have been issued for coastal Georgia from the Mouth of St. Marys River to Altamaha Sound. Debby is expected to become a hurricane before landfall in the Florida big bend region.

Precautionary Measures: Residents are urged to take immediate steps to prepare for tropical activity and rapidly changing conditions. Secure outdoor items, stock up on essential supplies, and ensure you have a plan in place.

State of Emergency

In response to the projected strengthening of Tropical Storm Debby, Governor Brian Kemp has declared a State of Emergency (PDF) for the entire state of Georgia. This declaration is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and preparedness of all residents as the storm approaches.

Sandbags

Sand is available at four different self-service site throughout Camden County. Some of these sites also have a limited number of sandbags available. Please click on the map to open a larger version.

Camden County

Camden County will have a limited number of sandbags available at the Public Works offices at 1004 Old Plantation Road in Woodbine from 7:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2024. Sand will be available for self-service at the Facilities Maintenance Building located at 1144 Godley Avenue in Woodbine. Residents should bring their own shovels.

Kingsland

The City of Kingsland will have sand available at 132 Royal Parkway in Kingsland. Residents should bring shovels and sandbags for this self-service site.

St. Marys

The City of St. Marys will have sand and sandbags available for self-service at the Public Works Facility located at 819 Point Peter Road in St. Marys. This site is open from 7:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2024.

Woodbine

The City of Woodbine will have sand and a limited number of sandbags available at the Public Works Department located at 1714 Bedell Avenue in Woodbine.
