Incarcerated Man Who Walked Away from Washington Ridge Conservation Camp Apprehended

NEVADA CITY - California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) today announced the apprehension of a person who walked away from Washington RidgeConservation Camp in Nevada County on Friday, July 26, 2024.

Arnel T. Arienda, was apprehended without incident in Nevada City at approximately 8:25 p.m. on July 27, 2024. Arienda's case will be referred to the Nevada County District Attorney for possible escape charges.

Arienda was admitted to CDCR from Kern County on March 4, 2022, sentenced to serve 8 years for carjacking with an enhancement for use of a firearm

Since 1977, 99 percent of all people who have left an adult institution, camp, or community-based program without permission have been apprehended.
