Roadway Construction Continues at Night Under Two I-476 Improvement Projects in Delaware, Montgomery Counties

King of Prussia, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction activities will continue at night next week on Interstate 476 under two separate projects to improve travel and safety on the interstate, the associated on-and-off ramps and bridges in Delaware and Montgomery counties.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

• Monday, July 8, through Friday, July 12, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure will be in place on sections of northbound I-476 between the I-95 and I-76 interchanges for paving.
• Monday, July 8, through Friday, July 12, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure will be in place on sections of southbound I-476 between the I-76 and Route 3 (West Chester Pike) interchanges for concrete patching and guiderail replacement.
  
• Wednesday, July 10, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure will be place on sections of southbound I-95 between the Prospect Park/Essington (Exit 9B-A) and I-476 (Exit 7) interchanges for stormwater management activities.
• Wednesday, July 10, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure will be place on sections of southbound I-476 between Route 3 (West Chester Pike) and MacDade Boulevard interchanges for stormwater management activities.
  

In addition, a lane closure with flagging will occur on Monday, July 8, through Friday, July 12, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, on the following two I-476 underpasses for overhead bridge repair:

• Reed Road between Marpit Road and Eagle Road in Marple and Springfield townships, Delaware County.
• Baltimore Pike between Turner Road and Paper Mill Road in Nether Providence and Springfield townships, Delaware County.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because significant backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The paving, patching, guiderail replacement and bridge repair are part of a $63.7 million project to resurface, repair and improve nearly 17 miles of the interstate from I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) in West Conshohocken Borough, Montgomery County, to I-95 in Ridley Township, Delaware County.

The stormwater management activities are part of a $10.4 million project to install and integrate Variable Speed Limit (VSL) and Queue Warning (QW) systems to better manage congestion and improve traffic safety operations on approximately 14.5 miles of I-476 in Delaware and Montgomery counties.
