Transgender Teen Assaulted in Gloucester: Support and Resources for LGBTQ+ Youth

We are heartbroken to hear that a transgender teenager was assaulted in Gloucester at the end of last week. We hope for a quick and full recovery from his injuries, and that he has the support he will need to heal from this traumatic incident. Family support plays a critical role in ensuring LGBTQ+ youth are protected and able to thrive, and we are heartened to know this young man has a loving advocate in his mother. As the investigation into what happened Friday proceeds, we hope that both the school and wider community are able to learn from this incident and turn toward kindness and away from violence.

To this young man and his family, and to all LGBTQ+ youth in Gloucester, throughout Massachusetts, and across the country, know that you are loved, you are supported, and you belong.
