Two Suspects Arrested During Daytime Residential Burglary

Quick action by a Clovis resident and police officers resulted in the arrest of two burglary suspects yesterday afternoon. On Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 12:45 PM, a Clovis resident called us to report that they saw 2 unknown people breaking in while they were away. Officers were dispatched to the home, in a neighborhood near Peach and Nees, and arrived as the suspects hopped backyard fences to get away. One suspect was located and arrested immediately, and a second suspect was located and arrested in a parked car a street away. Officers searched yard by yard on foot in the area with the assistance of a drone, CPD K9 Ryder, 3 K9's and handlers from the Fresno Police Department, and helicopters from both Fresno Sheriff's Office and Fresno Police Department. Currently, one suspect remains outstanding.

The suspects arrested have been identified as 20-year-old Jesus Mercado Obeso and 21-year-old Tatiana Saavedra, both of Fresno. Both suspects have been booked into Fresno County Jail for felony burglary and conspiracy charges. The suspect outstanding will face the same charges.

Detectives continue to investigate this case. If you have any information regarding this crime, please call Clovis Police at (559) 324-2800 or Valley Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP. The arrests yesterday would not have been possible without the vigilant Clovis resident who had installed cameras they could monitor remotely and called law enforcement immediately. Technology continues to play a critical role in our law enforcement efforts, especially cameras. We would like to thank the Fresno Police Department and Fresno County Sheriff's Office for assistance.
