Oneida, Tennessee: Road access to the Big South Fork's scenic O&W Road was blocked by order of the State of Tennessee Department of Transportation this week. The Pine Creek Bridge was closed by the state because it was deemed unsafe. The closed bridge is the first bridge on O&W Road after the Toomey Road intersection. The closed bridge is outside of the boundary of the Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area.

The public is currently not be able to access any portion of O&W via vehicle within the boundary of the Big South Fork. For paddlers coming off the river, the next downstream exit is now Leatherwood Ford.

The National Park Service (NPS) was notified on September 12 of the closure and currently there is no information on how long the bridge may be closed. The NPS will be meeting with Scott County next week to discuss the issue.
