This year, the City is updating its Parks, Recreation, Trails, and Open Space Master Plan. The Plan, once adopted by the City Council, will guide policy, capital improvements and future bond issues for the community's park system.

The current master plan was completed in 2012 and was based on three innovative concepts:

• the City will grow and flourish as a city within a park;
• 25 percent of Cedar Hill's land area will consist of public and private open space;
• and the interface of nature and built environment will be celebrated and influence the design of public infrastructure.
