Bridge Maintenance Closures Begin Monday in Washington County

Uniontown, PA - Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that short-term bridge closures are scheduled to begin Monday, July 8, at seven locations in California Borough and Chartiers, Cross Creek, North Bethlehem, and South Strabane townships, Washington County.

JF Shea Construction Inc. will be cleaning and sealing the bridges' decks as part of a $206K infrastructure preservation project for 19 bridges across Fayette, Washington, and Westmoreland counties.

Closures may last up to 72 hours from Monday, July 8 through late July at the following superstructures, with posted detours. All work depends on weather and operations.

California Borough:

1. Route 2079 (South Ridge Road) over Pike Run between Mucko Lane and Route 2036 (Pike Run Drive).

Detour (6 miles): Route 2079 (South Ridge Road) to Route 2038 (South California Drive) to Route 2030 (California Drive) to Route 2036 (Pike Run Drive).

2. Route 2036 (Pike Run Drive) over Gorby Run between Harrison Road and Route 2030 (California Drive)/School Street.

Detour (4.5 miles): Route 2036 (Pike Run Drive) to Route 2079 (Powerhouse Road, West Malden Drive) to Route 2073, 88 (Malden Road) to Route 2083 (Third Street Ext.) to Route 88 (Highpoint Drive) to Route 2036 (Pike Run Drive).

Chartiers Township:

3. Route 4047 (Hickory Ridge Road) over Chartiers Run between Ullom Road and Ryburn Road.

Detour (12.6 miles): Route 4047 (Hickory Ridge Road, McCarrell Road) to Route 4045 (Red Fox Road) to Route 18 (Henderson Road, Henderson Avenue) to Route 4020 (Oak Grove Road) to Route 4049 (Main Street) to Route 4047 (Hickory Ridge Road).

Cross Creek Township:

4. ​​Route 4029 (Cross Creek Road) over North Fork Cross Creek.

a. ​Between Hill Street and Wells Drive.

b. Between Church Street and Patterson Road.

Detour (20 miles): Route 4029 (Cross Creek Road) to Route 18 (Smith Township State Road, Burgettstown Road) to Route 50 (Main Street, Avella Road) to Route 4029 (Cross Creek Road).

North Bethlehem Township:

5. Route 2008 (Lindley­­­ Road) over Daniels Run between Amos Road and Route 2015 (Daniels Run Road).

Detour (5.7 miles): Route 2008 (Lindley­­­ Road) to Route 2013 (Little Daniels Run Road) to Route 2005 (Brush Run Road) to Route 40 (National Road) to Route 2015 (Daniels Run Road).

South Strabane Township:

6. Route 2002 (Vance Station Road) over Interstate 79 Exit 34 (I-70 East - New Stanton) between KOA Road and Route 1014 (Lakeview Drive).

​Detour (5.25 miles): Route 2002 (Vance Station Road) to Route 1014 (Lakeview Drive) to Route 1049 (Zediker Station Road) to Route 40 (National Pike) to Lalock Hill Road to Route 2002 (Vance Station Road).
